I'm a New York City attorney, now booking my third
trip to Casa Viento. Although my wife and I have tried some of the
other Windsurf Mag destination hotspots (Aruba and Bonaire), they
don't compare, and we'll keep on going back to stay with Rocky in
El Yaque. The wind, water, layout, and especially the hospitality
is the best around. Casa Viento, with its triangular glass rooms
like the prow of a boat, is the coolest looking hotel in the Caribbean.
It's up on a hill with the best views in town for friendly, rooftop
breakfasts and sunset cocktails. Simply put, Casa Viento is the
place to stay in El Yaque.
As
for the sailing, beginners (which I was on my first trip) have a
great big shallow sandy area to learn the basics, and intermediates/experts
sail in the deeper water, which gets swells further out. The cross-shore
winds(which mean never any struggle to get back home) start modest,
and increase throughout the day. When you want water as smooth as
glass, take a day trip to tiny Isla Coche, where the wind whips
over the flat island, reaching your sail as you zoom along the shore,
but leaving the water untouched. It's a jibe paradise. Rocky helped
us arrange the boat, equipment rentals, and lunch.

Casa Viento Rocks!
We've made two trips so far and can't wait for the
next. The Casa Viento
experience started with fresh island fruit on the rooftop cafe overlooking
Coche and the beautiful blue Carribean. It then moved to the beach
for a
day filled with powered up sailing, sun, and fun. It would wind
down with
an ice cold Polar and the soulful tunes of Johnny Lange wafting
from Rocky's
pad. And it would end with a raucous barbeque at Miguel's, a super
friendly
waterfront grill where we've met many great friends.
We've travelled to many windsurfing spots in the Carribean
and overall, Casa
Viento and Margarita tops everything, including Aruba.

As a first-time visitor(found them on the Web) last
winter to Casa Viento, I
really didn't know just what to expect. I found an warm welcome
and a
helping hand. Rocky and his staff made my Margarita vacation an
easy and
wonderful experience. At breakfast, I was guided through all my
questions
with ease and was able to thoroughly enjoy the entire Island. All
the food
and side trip recommendations were spot-on and carefully explained.
The
rooms were spacious, clean, and a great value. I wouldn't stay anywhere
else
and plan on going back sometime soon.
